Memory #14
Memory #14 - "A sword is a weapon", etc. Revealing himself as Battousai, Kaoru telling him she wants the rurouni to stay. [32-top of 50] (Happy Significant)
What He Remembered:
- What was going on beforehand with the brothers
- "A sword is a weapon. Kenjutsu is the art of killing. Whatever pretty words you use to speak of it, this is it's true nature."
- However, he likes Kaoru's ideals on it instead, and hopes the whole world can adopt them someday.
- He is REALLY FAST - four or five with each sword stroke.
- Hiten Mitsurugi was a style aimed for fighting multiple opponents
- And that without a reverse blade, it's a "slaughter with deadly swiftness"
- This isn't his first meeting with the brothers; he hid his strength on that first meeting as well.
- The one brother wanted to use the hitokiri's name
- And Kenshin won't pass it on, especially to someone like him (using it for dirty deeds, etc)
- . . . he can be super scary :D;;
- Despite his reputation as the Battousai, Kaoru wants him to stay and asks for his real name, rather than "the rurouni"
- Even though it's dangerous, at Kaoru's insistence and because he's touched by what she says, he decides to stay
Thoughts: This is a super important memory for Kenshin, in that it shows how he came about staying with this young girl he keeps remembering, and why he was staying there. He still doesn't quite remember how important Kaoru is, but if he's still staying with her in other memories, well. She's obviously an important friend. And the fact that she knows of his past and she doesn't CARE is a big thing for him, as Kenshin's pretty private about that side of his life.
He also figures this is a very early memory for him, because he isn't quite feeling the effects of his body from using Hiten Mitsurugi so much. How long, he doesn't know, but he can place it with the other memory that takes place right after this, and this gives him a good time frame of what happens when, etc.
HOWEVER, this is also a very, very good idea of what the rurouni is like. How he's obviously distanced himself from others in the past because of who he used to be. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR KENSHIN IN SABRA IS he's going to shift even further into that, and be less and less the tsunbitch he was in the beginning. IT'S STILL THERE, he's a tsunbitch no matter what, but it'll be less and less obvious, and will more lean towards sugary sweet POLITENESS rather than being a complete bitch.
